Okay the way this works is when you check in to a hotel the desk clerk will ask you for your credit card and id to check in; When you hand them these you slip in a $20 bill with them and then at that time ask them if there is any free upgrades? A lot of the time the clerk will then look at the avaiable rooms and you might get upgrades such as a better room or strip view etc if you do the clerk will pocket the $20 and hopefully you have recieved something worth much more than the $20. If there supervisor is around or they don't have anything available they will just hand you back your $20 with nothing lost. This trick doesn't work every time but it works a lot and for most people can be your first gamble as you arrive in town.
