The Flamingo is the hotel that mobster Bugsy Siegel built although he wouldn't recognize the place today. The property has a great center Strip location and a big highlight of the property is the 15 acre lush pool area surrounded by a tropical jungle themed area with the namesake Flamingo's as well as other animals such as swans, ducks, turtles and huge koi fish.

Hotel:

The basic deluxe hotel rooms are are now being upgraded and being made in the Fab rooms. The previous upgraded rooms are called Go Rooms and are starting to show their age, the carpet in the hallways isn't great but the rooms themselves are generally good and you cannot beat the location on the Strip for a room.

Casino:

The casino is large and covers 77,000 square feet with 2,100 slot machines and lots of pink neon on the walls. A large central area has the usually table games and as the property is part of Caesars Total Rewards slot club which you can use it to earn rewards while playing. A second newer casino has been added on the Strip with a Magaritaville theme next to the existing Margaritaville restaurant and shop, this area is 15,000 sqaure feet and has an additional 22 gaming tables with 220 slot machines.

Text Offers:

While staying at the property if you text 227466 the property will send you discounts to your phone usually things like 2 for 1 drink deals and you can also check in on Foursquare or Facebook on your smartphone for deals and freebies too.

One may be a little rock and roll and one may be a little bit country but brother and sister act Donny and Marie Osmond have been drawing the crowds at the Flamingo since 2008. The original run of the show was supposed to be six weeks long, but because of the popularity has been extended several times with it now being extended through the end of 2013. If you want to check out the show you will have to wait for a bit as they are at present on a tour of Great Britain but they will return to Las Vegas starting February 12th with shows Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30pm in the Flamingo Showroom.

Room Review: Flamingo Fab Deluxe Room

Beds with bedspreads

The Fab Deluxe rooms at the Flamingo are the newly remodeled basic rooms at the hotel and are about 350 sq feet in total size. The upgraded beds with extra soft pillow top mattresses are nice while maybe not the best beds in town are a good quality. The pink is a lot more subtle in these rooms than in their Go rooms and the dark vinyl plank floor is a nice touch. The pink faux furs on the bottom of the bed are a pet peeve of ours and are in many remodeled rooms in town, its not a fall size blanket its just an accent piece that is likely to end up on the floor and then get put back on the bed

Desk and TV area

As you can see above is a new 32" flat screen television on a dresser with plenty of draw space and a nice desk next to a small sitting area.

Flamingo toliteriesThe toliteries in the room are basic but good and the pink stripes of the Flamingo appear on the items. The bath/shower combo was a good size and hot water wasn't an issue which is always a plus. Overall the rooms are a good value for money and can often be had for a bargain price considering the properties center Strip location. The check in staff are nice although the lines can be long if you don't have a Total Rewards Diamond card or above but they do have check in machines which do help. We would definetely stay here in these rooms again but Flamingo please lose those throws on the bottom of the bed.

Burger Joint Closes At “Flamingo”

The Burger Joint restaurant at the “Flamingo” has closed down and looks like it will be replaced a new steak house most likely in about March. The new steakhouse is called Center Cut Steakhouse and, fills a void for a steakhouse at the property after the previous steakhouse called Steakhouse 46 closed. Steakhouse 46 which seemed slow on our visits and its location down a corridor away from the casino I’m sure didn’t help. The reviews for it seemed okay but last time we visited it the restaurant was pushing tapas food which seemed strange for a steakhouse. Steakhouse 46 was replaced by a Margaritaville themed casino which ties in with the adjacent Margaritaville restaurant and bar. The Burger Joint restaurant had good food although the service was a little slow at times we visted, the Pizza Joint which is part of the space closer to the rooms looks like its remaining open so you can still get your pizza fix. The town is full of steakhouses but this one should do well but we will have to see when it opens how it does and have a review.

New Donny & Marie Wrap

This is the new Donny & Marie wrap on the Flamingo from time to these wraps need to be replaced as entertainers runs ends or if the wraps get damaged or old. Donny & Marie recently signed a contract extension so it looks like this wrap is here to stay. I'm not a fan of building wraps because guests in these strip view rooms now have to look out through lots of little holes of the wrap but i can understand the hotels wanting to advertise.
