ShoeZeum Museum Opens

This has to be one of the more unusual attractions in Las Vegas it’s the ShoeZeum which recently opened at Neonopolis in Downtown. The attraction showcases a 2,500 Nike shoe collection the largest in the world in a museum that opens at 4pm daily. The charge to get in to see the collection is $10 I don’t know how many people will visit this attraction but for ten bucks it might be worth a visit if you want to take a break from the casinos Downtown for a while.

Trip Report Aug 15th & 16th

One night in Las Vegas is never enough but a quick trip to Las Vegas is better than no trip at all.

* 11am when to check in at the Flamingo and there was an hour wait for people to check out but luckly i used my Platinum status to check in with no waiting at the Platinum and Diamond check in area.

* The room was one of there newly remodeled Go Fab rooms which is their basic room and was nicely appointed but didn't have things like a coffee maker but was clean and fine. No coffee maker but it does have a retractable clothes line in the bath tub a nice item to dry out pool clothes as well as a bottle opener.

* Usual guys in costume with tourists taking pictures on the Strip and turning away when people don't pay to take pictures; One tourist was upset when a character asked for a$5 tip but another character an Elvis impersonator was nice to everyone and i watched him give directions to visitors a few times in the few minutes i sat down to take a break. I also watched several people with animals asking for tips (cruel for the animals in 108 degree weather) guess the clamp down on them hasn't worked so far but i didn't see the water vendors which used to be so often seen. There also seemed to be less nightclub pass vendors maybe a sign of the economy and also the porn card vendors seem to be broken up along the Strip instead of large groups in certain areas which seemed the norm in the past.

* The Strip was busy which is a good sign and even the Imperial Palace which is surrounded by construction seemed pretty busy. The only thing that wasn't busy was the poor monorail which ran with light traffic.

* Watched drunk people yell down the hallway and then one of them run in to a door he cut his nose and was picked up by his friends from the floor. I don't think he felt the hit but im sure he will when he sobers up.

* People carrying babies and young kids in strollers at 2am on the Strip just so wrong.

* Why do some people try to push their way on the elevator as you are trying to get off.

* 70 year old lady with a drink cup in her hand asked me in the elevator if i wanted company i passed.

KISS Golf Opens March 15th

The long rumored KISS themed miniature golf course and amusement park is finally set to open on March 15th across from the “Hard Rock” hotel and casino. This project had for years been discussed for various locations all over town but now you will be able to play golf in a KISS themed heaven complete with what’s being billed as the world’s largest KISS gift shop to get all your souvenirs of the rock legends; Other attractions at the course include a Hotter than Hell wedding chapel and the Rock ‘n” Roll All Night Café. The 18th hole also has a replica of band leader Gene Simmons famous large tongue which could be disturbing to some we would guess oh well the madness starts March 15th.

This show has been at "Caesars Palace" for years its in the Forum Shops mall and features Roman anamtronic statues of the gods that come to life and then talk as well as sing during the show. The show usually runs every hour but you might want to get there a bit earlier for a good spot.

Country Tribute Artists At the "Golden Nugget"

Tribute shows arn't new to Las Vegas like the long running 'Legends In Concert' or the recently closed 'American Superstars' but a all country show is unusual. The show is called "Country Superstars Tribute" and is playing at the "Golden Nugget" downtown on Fremont Street. The show has tribute artists performing as some of the most popular names in country music with a live band and from the clips i have seen of the show and early reviews from people that have seen it might be worth checking out. Dinner and show packages start from $34.99 per person plus tax so contact the "Golden Nugget" shows and tour desks or call 1-866-946-5336 for tickets.

Lady Gaga Joins Cast Of American Superstars

A Lady Gaga impersonator has joined the cast of rotating celebrity impersonators in the American Superstars show at the "Stratosphere." I'm not a Lady Gaga fan but i have seen the show and generally the impersonators are pretty good and, at the $39.99 ticket price the show is a bargain. The Elvis and Micheal Jackson impersonators seem a staple of this show and are very good.

Shows:

Sunday to Tuesday at 7pm

Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 6:30pm and 8:30pm

Dark Thursdays and celebrity impersonators may vary
