The former "Las Vegas Hilton" is now called the "LVH after a break from being affiliated with the Hilton Group. The "LVH" is located off the Strip next to the Las Vegas Convention Center and near the shuttered "Sahara." The property has a monorail stop which is a more important for this property than most because of its distant from the Strip. The "LVH" has struggled since losing the Hilton name which may be partly because the hotel has a lot of convention guest traffic which may have suffered without Hilton funneling them there. The property is big with a rooftop pool area and a large casino with a large sportsbook as well as a good selection of restaurants. This hotel is the former Las Vegas show home of Elvis when the hotel was called the "International." Because of its history this is a famous Las Vegas hotel and hopefully better times are ahead for the property.

Hotel:

The property has 2,950 rooms of Hilton type quality which were showing signs of their age but have been remodeled in recent years. The rooms on the backside of the property have views of the golf course which is a plus. One note about the rooms is last time we staying there is we had connecting doors on both sides of the room and we could hear noise from both sides hopefully they improved that with the remodel. Room prices at this hotel can very widely depending on the traffic from the convention center next door so if you can be flexable with you dates you could get a good deal.

LVH Adds A Resort Fee

The number of resorts in Las Vegas without the annoying resort fees is small and it just got a little smaller with the announcement that the LVH is joining the resort fee bandwagon. The new $18 per night fee which will start June 1st and is mandatory but does include internet access at least for now. The other amenities you get for your $18 are free local and 1-800 phone calls (useless to most in age of cell phones), fitness center access, an in room safe as well as a coupon book. The view of this site is that the total price of the room when you compare or see advertised should be the final price as airlines are now required to do. A resort fee in small print at the end as you are about to pay for the room makes people think your room is much cheaper than it is. If the hotels want to do the airline model of add on’s such as an extra charge for the gym etc that is a fair system as the people that use it will pay for it. Right now your best bet to avoid resort fees is to stay Downtown or at most off Strip properties although the trend is for more resort fees and its most likely that the Downtown Grand when it opens will have a resort fee.

New Burger Place At The LVH

In Las Vegas there is no shortage of places to get a great steak and over the last few years more and more high end burger places are being added to the mix; The latest burger joint to open is the Burger Bistro now at the LVH which features burgers in the $10 to $15 range from the normal burgers to ones such as lamb, turkey or Angus beef to really exotic ones such as yellowtail tuna or lump and black fin crab. I don't know if we are ready to try the more exotic burgers but they do have 30 beers available to go with your burger so we may try one, the Burger Bistro at LVH is open from 11am to 9pm daily.

“Las Vegas Hilton” Disappears Today

Today the “Las Vegas Hilton” name disappears as the 2,950 room property on Paradise road next to the Las Vegas Convention Center is rebranded as “LVH.” I’m not a fan of the new name which to me sounds like a handbag or perfume line but we will have to see what happens as the fight for control of the property continues. As previously reported the classic “Las Vegas Hilton” sign has been removed as the property has removed all its Hilton branding as there affiliation with that brand has ended. Now that the new “LVH” has lost the Hilton affiliation it means it also has lost the funneling of customers to the property from Hiltons 1-800 number and website as well as their rewards program. Hilton has time share properties in town and it will be interesting to see how long before another big Las Vegas resort property gets rebranded with the Hilton name.

LVH What The Heck?

The home of Elvis the International which has been the "Las Vegas Hilton" for years since it was a Hilton property is being renamed to LVH which has to be the worst name of a Las Vegas resort ever. The name is being changed as the licensing agreement for the Hilton name is coming to an end this follows the change of the Atlantic City Hilton to the ACH name which is maybe even a worse name. The LVH name to me sounds like the name of a handbag or perfume and its a shame its going to be on this storied property. The property like many older properties in Las Vegas is struggling and maybe if ownership changed they would decide on a new name.

"Las Vegas Hilton" Gets In New Years Spirit

New Years in Las Vegas is a lot of fun as the city turns in to one big party its crazy often weird and can be expensive but a lot of fun. This is the most expensive time of the year to visit Las Vegas with high room rates and often minimum nights stay but this year is cheaper than years past. A staple of New Years in Las Vegas is the New Years Balls which are huge dance parties often with celebrity guests and or music performances as part of the ticket price. This year we have a new entrant to the New Year's party scene with the Las Vegas Hilton holding its 1st Annual New Years Party in its ballroom with a very reasonable price of $29 per ticket plus service fee. This party is advertised as a old school party and is presented by local radio station 105.7 The Oasis. The ticket price includes party favors and a champagne toast at midnight and dinner packages are available. If you are looking for a less expensive New Years party this might be a good option the doors open at 9pm on New Years Eve and the party starts at 10:00pm if you want to book tickets or for more information click the website link below.
