“Silverton” Poker Room Closes
Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 9:27PM We recently reported that the “Fitzgerald’s” poker room was closing and now news that the “Silverton’s” poker room has now also closed. If you are not familiar with the “Silverton” it’s about three miles from the strip and, is mostly known for a big fishing store as well as an aquarium at the property. In the last few years poker rode a wave of popularity because of the numerous television shows featuring games but after a government clamp down on the US poker sites it seems the growth has slowed. Every property in Las Vegas added poker rooms and with the economy and a slowdown in poker play it’s not surprising some of the less busy rooms are closing. Some of the business for these rooms may also be going to newer or bigger properties such the “M Resort” or “South Point” which also aren’t that far away from the “Silverton.” We wouldn’t be surprised if smaller poker rooms closed in this climate, but overall poker seems to still be pretty popular.
